Elva May Burgher, 78, Coatsville died Saturday night at ten o'clock in the Grim-Smith Hospital where she had been a patient since May 1.
The daughter of Robert Reed and Margaret (Miner) Barr she was born May 31, 1887 in Davis County, Ia. On Dec. 18, 1905, in Coatsville, she was married to Lee Burgher who preceded her in death on May 10, 1963. Also preceding her in death was one son.
Surviving are nine children, Helen Burgher and Marjorie Smith both of San Francisco, Calif., Geraldine Dougherty of Ottumwa, Mrs. Lowell (Autherine) Beeler of Glen Alpine, N.C., Mrs. Cleo (Gretchen) Adkins of Keokuk, Ia., Norman Burgher of Coatsville, Ralph Burgher of Glenwood, Kermit Burgher of Pekin, Ill., and Grover Burgher of Hamilton; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, one brother, Elmer Barr of Danville, Ill. and three sisters, Mrs. Virgil (Opal) Nichols of Keokuk, Ia., Mrs. Frank (Zina) McCullough of Boonville, Ia., and Ada Weldon of Centerville, Ia.
Mrs. Burgher had spent most of her life in the Coatsville community. She attended the Coatsville Holiness Church where funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 with the Rev. Archie Cooper of Kirksville, officiating. Burial will be in the Coatsville cemetery.
The body is at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster where it will remain until eleven o'clock Tuesday morning when it will be taken to the church.
