"Death of Mrs. E.J. Barton, Widow of D.B. Barton"

Mrs. E.J. Barton, widow of the late D.B. Barton, died here last Wednesday afternoon about 1 o'clock, at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. John King. She was a victim of the prevailing grip and had been sick only a few days. She was a daughter of the late Samuel Caskey and was in her 77th year, having been born in July 1831.

Mrs. Barton was a good Christian lady and was esteemed and admired for her many noble qualities of heart and mind by a large circle of friends and relatives. She was a loyal member of the A.R.P. church. She is survived by the following sons and daughter: Mr. J.S.L. Barton, of near Heath Springs; Mrs. Margaret Mehaffey, of Lancaster; Mr. W.H.R. Barton of Antioch; Mr. R.D.F. Barton of Lancaster, and Mrs. Julia King, wife of Mr. John King, also of this place. She also leaves 30 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. The remains were buried at Gills Creek church Thursday afternoon.
