Services for Dorothy Mae Alford, 75, of Greenwood, who died of heart failure Monday, May 23, 2005, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home.
Mrs. Alford was retired from Greenwood Leflore Hospital, where she worked as a nursing assistant for many years. She also worked for a time at Conmar. A native of Marion [Crittenden Co.], Ark., she resided in Greenwood for most of her life.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Margie Cooklett.
She is survived by her husband, Jeffy Rivers Alford of Greenwood; three stepdaughters, Jolynn Nicholas of Jackson, Randee Acey of Grenada and Christi Carroll of Greenwood; four sisters, Mildred Henderson of Chatera, La., Catherine Ervin of Indianola, Frances Flemming of Isola and Gladys Boyles of Hattiesburg; four brothers, J.D. Hobson of Chattanooga, Tenn., Joseph Barnett of Soddy Daisy, Tenn., James Barnett of Doddsville and Roy Barnett of Brookhaven; and six grandchildren, Matthew Nicholas and Betsy Kate Nicholas, both of Jackson, Andrew Wright, Meg Wright and Sally Acey, all of Grenada, and Ann Rivers Carroll of Greenwood....
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Nicholas, Scott Acey, Scott Carroll, Mack Alford, Bobby Alford and Joe Alford Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Dexter Deaton and Roy C. Barnett Sr....
