Mrs. Edythe L. Wendt, 93, a resident of Independence, MO. and former Trenton resident Died Wednesday evening September 13, 2017 at Rosewood Health & Rehab, Independence.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Slater Funeral Home, Trenton with Rev. Ron Ratliff officiating. Burial will be in Topsy Cemetery northeast of Spickard, MO.

Family visitation will be held Saturday from 10:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral hone.

Mrs. Edythe L. Wendt, was born April 15, 1924 in Galt, MO, the daughter of Pearl and Bessie Smith Rooks. She attended Galt School.

She was a member of Tenth Street Baptist Church in Trenton.

On Thursday, December 25, 1941 she was married to Phillip Wendt at Trenton. He preceded her in death on July 20, 1993.

Her survivors include one daughter Charlotte Johnson and husband Andrew of Independence, one granddaughter Andreá Leader and husband Eric of Independence, one grandson Alex Johnson of Independence, two great grandsons Shane Leader of Independence, and Noah Johnson of Independence.

Edythe was preceded in death by her father Pearl Rooks; her mother Bessie Rooks; one brother Rex Rooks; and by one sister Betty Fry.
