"The funeral of Benjamin Crane was held at the Presbyterian Church at 3:30 p.m. yesterday, Rev. Charles Little officiating. A few minutes before the time for the services to commence and while the bell was tolling, the coffin was carried from the residence of Prosper Leseure, a short distance away, to the church, followed by mourning relatives. The church auditorium was comfortably filled with sympathizing friends, a large number of whom had known the deceased for many years, and respected and honored him as a good man and citizen and a true friend. His love for the church was strong and enduring, and while in Danville and Abilene was an elder and active worker. His 3 daughters and 2 sisters, as well as many other relatives were present, and a long line of carriages followed the remains to Spring Hill where the body was placed beside that of his wife and other dear relatives." - Daily Commercial, Danville, Illinois, November 17, 1886 (Obituary provided by Carolyn Schwab)
