Genevieve A. “Genna” Lloyd, 82, of Evansville, passed away Monday, October 17, 2011, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. She was born May 5, 1929, in Plymouth, PA to Michael and Mary (Zelinsky) Ragunas.
Genna retired from the Vanderburgh County Voters Registration where she was Deputy Clerk for 19 years. Prior to that she owned Nails Plus Salon. She was an Honors graduate at Plymouth High School in Pennsylvania and a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

She was Evansville’s First Lady from 1972 to 1980 while her husband, Russell G. Lloyd, served as Mayor. She held her family together after her husband’s untimely death. Genna was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Genna enjoyed reading, traveling, crossword puzzles, bingo, bowling and playing cards. She was a member of St. Mary’s Hospital Women’s Auxiliary and the Vanderburgh County Federated Republican Women.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, Russell G. Lloyd, in 1980; brother, Vincent Ragunas in 2001; and cousin, Dolores Stark in 2009.

Genna is survived by her sons, Russell G. Lloyd, Jr. (Theresa), Michael Lloyd (Stacey), Joel Lloyd (Tina) and Daniel Lloyd (Susan); daughters, Hon. Mary Margaret Lloyd (Stephen Parkinson) and Julie Lloyd Abushalback (Sam); grandchildren, Russell J. Lloyd, Bailey Lloyd, Jennifer Lloyd, Hannah and Daniel Lloyd, Lydia and Thomas Parkinson, Sarah VanVorst (John), and Grace, Laith and Mia Abushalback; great-grandson, William Lloyd; sister, Matilda Raklewicz; brother, Anthony Ragunas (Mary); nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM Thursday, October 20, 2011, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2301 North Stockwell Road, officiated by Fr. Ted Tempel, Fr. Bernard Etienne and Fr. Zach Etienne, with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday from 12:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, and Thursday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church.

Genna was very generous throughout her life with many charities and contributions. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity in her name.
