After her 1st husband, Joe Alexander died, she married Herman Hallowell. Herman's first wife, Lois, and Opal attended college together and became good friends there -- a friendship that lasted mom’s lifetime.

Opal died of a heart attack while she and Herman were on a trip to Arizonia. Opal is buried beside her 1st husband, Joe.

Opal Alexander Hallowell was born May 28, 1907 at Stockport, Iowa and died Tuesday, March 6, 1979 at Springerville, Arizonia. She and her husband, Herman, were on a trip when she was striken with a heart attack.

Opal and Herman Hallowell were married May 28, 1978 at the Salem Friends Church, Salem, IA

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joe Alexander in 1971 and a son, Neal.

She is survived by her husband, Herman, a daughter, a daughter-in-law, two step-daughters, 1 step-son and several grandchildren and step-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sat., Mar. 10, 1979 at 1:30 p.m. at the Friends Church, Salem, Iowa, with Rev. George Bigley & Rev. Roger Harding, officiating.

Music was provided by Mr. & Mrs. Gale Dorothy.

Casket bearers were Brace Oliver, Larry Eklund, Kermit Brown, Gordon Oliver, Forrest Greenawalt & Dale Workman.

She was laid to rest in East Cemetery, Salem, Iowa, beside her first husband, Joe Alexander.
