2009 Frank J. Cretaro, 88, of Minoa, passed away Sunday following a courageous battle with cancer at Sunnyside Care Center with his family by his side. Frank was born December 19, 1920, in Chittenango Station and raised in Kirkville. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He worked for NY Central Railroad and the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1984. He operated Greiner's Orchard, was an avid baseball and NY Yankees fan, and enjoyed country music and horse racing; he "produced his own trifecta." Survivors: his wife of 57 years, Barbara Greiner Cretaro; three daughters, Mary Ellen Forkhamer, Bonnie (Stephen) Nee and Suzanne (Stephen) West; grandchildren, Amy Forkhamer, Kristen (Joshua) Huynh, Jacquelyn Nee, Michael Nee and Jason West; four sisters, Caroline Smith, Antoinette Magari, Rose Fabrizi and Mary Santore; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Angelo and Jesse Cretaro; his brother, Michael; and his sister, Edith Vona. Services: 9:15 a.m. Thursday at Russell H. Schepp & Son Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Minoa. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Minoa. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 109 East Ave., Minoa. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Sunnyside for their exceptional care and compassion. Dad, you are a great source of inspiration and strength to us. We love you.
