*Edward was my great uncle; his brother Chalkley was my great grandfather

Edward Lincoln was born on November 11, 1871 in Blendon Township, Franklin County, Ohio and died on November 22, 1934 in Pere Marquette, Mason County, Michigan from myocarditis (death date/location/cause per his death certificate). He was 63 and 11 days years old at the time of his death. Edward was the third child (second son) of James Madison Monroe Lincoln and his first wife, Louisa Williams. Note that Edward's headstone has his birth year as 1872; that is incorrect. His birth was recorded in the record Ohio, Births and Christenings Index, 1800-1962 as November 11, 1871. His death certificate also lists his year of birth as 1871 not 1872.

His siblings were Florida Gertrude(1864-1888), brother Chalkley Sherman (1866 - 1942), Elva (1868 - 1884), and Charles (1870-1886). Half siblings from his father's second marriage to Malissa (Day)Wallace were Lewis (1873-1948), James Madison Monroe, Jr. (1876-1877)and Louisa (1877- ).

Edward's first marriage was to Elvina Williams (1878 - 1907). They married on 26 Sept 1898 in Clark County, Illinois and had the following children - Winnie Ethel Lincoln (1899 - 1965), Robert Chaulkley(1901-1988), Orpha Bessie (1904-1929), a Baby (1906) and Charles (1907 - 1915).

Edward's second marriage was to Lenora Pearl McGhan on 11 Nov 1907 in Mason County, Michigan. Lenora was born 1876 and died 1963; her parents were Porter H. McGhan (1841-1924) and Anjenettie H. MARKS (1841-1907) who are also buried in Tallman Cemetery. We do not know where Lenora is buried, but she is supposed to have died in Ludington, Mason Co., Michigan.

To this union were born five children: Gertrude A. (1910 - ), Izetta (1912 - 1914), Searild Porter (1915 - 1986), Archie (1917 - 1946) and Abraham Marvin (1921 - 1993).

Sometime between Sept 26, 1898 and June of 1900, Edward and Elvina moved from Clark County, Illinois to Tallman, Mason County, Michigan. Elvina died 13 April 1907 and Edward married Lenora Pearl McGhan on 11 Nov 1907 in Mason County, Michigan.

On the 1900 Sheridan, Mason Co., Michigan census Edward indicates his date of birth as November 1871 which confirms the date that we have (my sister has researched our Lincoln side of the family extensively). Edward's headstone indicates he was born in 1872, but he was born on November 11, 1871. Also, his death was definitely in 1934 not 1935 as listed on his headstone. His obit appeared in a local newspaper on Thursday, Nov. 28, 1934 (which correctly lists his DOB as Nov 11, 1871).

In 1910, Edward and his family appeared on the Branch, Mason Co., Michigan census, and on the 1920 census in Battle Creek Ward 6, Calhoun Co., Michigan. By the time the 1930 census was conducted, Edward and family were living in Momence, Kankakee, Illinois. However, before his death in November 1934, Edward had moved his family back to Michigan living in Mason County, Michigan (possibly in Tallman).

*Edward and Lenora's son, Searild Porter Lincoln is buried in Lakeview Cemetery in Ludington, Mason County, Michigan - Section 14, but since I did not add his memorial, I cannot link him to Lenora or Edward. His Find A Grave Memorial# 61445217.
