Son of Henry Sater and Elizabeth Coe Sater. Apparently, George went by his middle name, Henry. He is usually listed as Henry Sater in early Anderson County, KS writings. George was part owner of a mercantile store in Colony, Anderson Co., KS for a couple years before the war broke out. His store partner was John McD. Martin. John was the husband of George's niece, Sarah E. Jones (daughter of George's older sister, Mary Sater Jones Bain). Both John and George enlisted in the Union Army in 1862. They were both in the 10th KS Infantry Unit, Company I. George was a private.

Cause of death: Chronic diarrhea
