HAZEL GREEN, Wis. -- Lorraine R. Fleege, 85, of Hazel Green, died Sunday, May 31, 2009, at Southwest Health Center Nursing Home, Cuba City, surrounded by her loving family.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Sinsinawa. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cuba City, where the parish rosary will be recited at 2 p.m. Friends also may call from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

She was born on Aug. 10, 1923, in Kieler, daughter of Henry and Clara (Flogel) Droessler. She married Harold J. Fleege on Sept. 10, 1947, at Immaculate Conception Church in Kieler; he preceded her in death on March 17, 2007.

She received her Certified Nursing Assistant degree and worked for a period of time at the Hazel Green Hospital.

Lorraine was a gentle, faith-inspired person and a tender loving guardian as she watched and cared for her grandchildren. She faithfully prayed the rosary daily. Lorraine was well-known for her baking, especially her sweet rolls and bread. She was an enthusiastic sports fan and especially loved watching the Cubs.

She was a member of the St. Joseph's Council of Catholic Women and sang with the church choir for more than 50 years.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Clare (Keith) Richard, of Hazel Green; six sons, Sam (Mary Jo) Fleege, of Dubuque, Marty (Susan) Fleege, of Cuba City, Paul (Nancy) Fleege, of East Dubuque, Ill., Lawrence (Jane) Fleege, of Hazel Green, Matthew (Diane) Fleege, of Platteville, and Fred (Julie) Fleege, of Hazel Green; two brothers, Arvel (Kay) Droessler, of Florida, and Henry (Juanita) Droessler Jr., of Kieler; two sisters, Pauline Schroeder, of Lancaster, and Mercedes Bertjens, of Cuba City; four sisters-in-law, Margaret Droessler, of Kieler, Mary Jo Droessler, of Colorado, Rosie Fleege, of Cuba City, and Jeanne Fleege, of East Dubuque; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert (Evelyn) Fleege, of East Dubuque, and Richard (Betty) Fleege, of Summerfield, Fla.; 20 grandchildren, Trevor (Tanya), Trista and Trent Fleege, Sara (Ben) Hanten and Kenny (Rachel) Fleege, Jason (Heather) and Jacob Fleege, Alicia, Cassandra, Sabrina and Marissa Fleege, Adam Fleege and Natasha (Christopher) Geyer, Megan, Carter and Taylor Fleege, and Brent, Andrew, Evan and Michael Richard; three stepgrandchildren, Brian, Katie and Ben Ferring; and four great-grandchildren, Tjaden and Jaycee Fleege, Addison Hanten and Owen Fleege.

She also was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Clara Droessler; her stepmother, Lorena; two grandsons, Benjamin and Jared Fleege; a daughter-in-law, Jean (Arand) Fleege; five brothers, Cyril, Norbert, Earl, Ed and Clair Droessler; and a sister, Lillian Timmerman; five brothers-in-law, Vincent Timmerman, Ervin Schroeder, Walt Bertjens, Melvin Fleege and Jerome "Bud" Fleege ; and three sisters-in-law, Irma Droessler, Loreen Droessler and Helen Droessler.
