On May 29, 2009 Mary Furge passed away peacefully in her sleep at Westside Garden Plaza, Memory Unit. Mary was born on March 11, 1922 in Cincinnati, Ohio to her parents, Joseph Walter Arvin and Ella (Hinton) Arvin.

Her siblings were Aurelia (Arvin) Diener and Virginia (Arvin) Lynch both of whom preceded her in death.

Mary grew up in Indianapolis, attended grade school at Our Lady of Lourdes School where she and eleven other kindergarten girls, formed the "Tea Whigs" Club and have remained a club to present. After grade school May went on to Saint Mary's Academy and then to Marian College. Because of the depression Mary's scholarship for four years at Marion evaporated thereby preventing her from completing her degree. After the completion of World War Two she met the man of her dreams, Robert G. Furge. On June 14th, 1947 they entered into Holy matrimony; their union saw the birth of their children Bob Jr. and Susie. The family lived in Anderson, Ind., after Mary retired from the Anderson Community Schools as the Administrative Assistant to the Superintent of Schools in 1984, she and Bob returned to Indianapolis living on the west side. Through most of her life she enjoyed bowling, playing bridge and dominos.

Mary is survived by her son Robert G. Furge Jr. (Sandy) living in Denver, Colo. Susie Eliot (Steve), who resides in Indianapolis, Ind. Three Grandchildren; Allison Tolbert (Andy) residing in Milwaukee, Wi., Lisa Jones and Scott A. Jones both of Indianapolis and great-granddaughter Ella Tolbert, Milwaukee, Wi..
