Joseph A. Cheskaty of El Cajon, Calif., died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 1983, in El Cajon after a lengthy illness. He was 79. Mr. Cheskaty had been a resident of the Grand Junction area for 60 years prior to moving to El Cajon in 1970. He had worked as a rancher in the Grand Valley and retired as an engineer from the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad in 1970. He married Ella Young March 29, 1924, in Grand Junction. She survives. Survivors in addition to his wife include three sons, Lawrence of LaMesa, Calif., Wesley of Grand Junction and Jack of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Private services will be held Saturday in El Cajon.
