George Henry Crosthwait was born in Nashville, Tennessee, the son of Charles Anderson and Lula Mae Carter Crosthwait. He had lived in Kansas City, Kansas, for more than sixty years, making his home at 2108 North 38th Street.
George married Gladys Lee Gilmore on April 18, 1925, in Kansas City, Missouri. They were the parents of two sons.
George had worked as a switchman for the Santa Fe Railroad and the Rock Island Railroad from 1937 to 1949. He then worked as a dispatcher for the Heuer Truck Line from 1949 to 1960, when he retired. Mr Crosthwait was an Army veteran of World War I and attended the Open Door Baptist Church.
George Henry Crosthwait, 79 years old, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 1975, at Veterans Hospital in Leavenworth. Services were held at the Porter Chapel, where the family received friends. Interment was at Highland Park Cemetery.
[Surviving are] his wife, Gladys; two sons, Robert Wayne Crosthwait of 1817 North 77th and George Henry Crosthwait Jr of 6605 Rowland; a brother, Charles Anderson Crosthwait, of 2733 North 34th; and a sister, Mrs Vivian Black Chaffin, of3641 North 60th, all of Kansas City, Kansas; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
