"Caroline Matilda Lent, nee Richmond was born in Union*, Oneida Co., New York, July 27, 1829, and died at Naperville, Ill., June 19, 1907, aged 77 years, 10 months and 22 days.
On July 4, 1848 she was married to Norman Lent who died in 1897. In 1852 they settled in Naperville where she has lived for 55 years. In 1861 she was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal church of which she was a faithful member until she was called home.
For some years she was unable to attend public worship on account of heart trouble, but she was true to her God and lived a practical christian ever showing in kindly deeds the Christ-like spirit. Her hope of eternal life was clear and bright. On the last Sabbath of her earthly stay while prayer was offered and a hymn sung by her children she said: "Oh, I am so happy."
Though clouds hung heavy over her at times, she rose above them and in her ministry to others, brought cheer and sunshine.
Her warm heart and motherly arms were open to motherless children. She gave them wise counsel and loving service and in her they found a true friend. Her children also rise up and call her blessed.
She waits at the portals to welcome those she left behind, four sons, two daughters, three brothers, two sisters, a number of grandchildren and a host of friends."
