John Edward "Eddie" Segars, Sr., a resident of Pine Bluff, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at his home.

Born August 9, 1914, in Pine Bluff, he was a son of D. T. and Nellie Price Segars.

Mr. Segars was reared and educated in Pine Bluff. He worked for the Cotton Belt Railroad for 39 years, retiring in 1972 as a machinist. Mr. Segars was a United States Army veteran of World War ll. Eddie Segars married Kathryn Work in Pine Bluff, on May 16, 1941.

Mr. Segars was a member of Forrest Park Assembly of God church. He was a former member, deacon, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendant, secretary, treasurer, and fill in pastor of First Assembly of God Pine Bluff. He was member of the American Legion

Mr. Segars was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Martile Cox; his daughter Kathy, and his grandson Michael.

Survivors include his wife Kathryn Segars of Pine Bluff; one son and daughter-in-law, John Segars, Jr. and Jo Segars of Pine Bluff; daughter and son-in-law, Joy and John Peck of West Helena, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Roxane Ainsworth, Cara Borger, Christy Montijo, Susan Drost, William Styles, and LeAnne Segars; six great-grandchildren, Shonna Burns, Tyler Borger, Scotty Roberts, Trevor Borger, Bram Montijo, and Thea Montijo; one sister, Alice Paff of Pine Bluff.
