CPO RAY KASPARI U.S. Navy, Retired

Ray Lee Kaspari, 48, of Las Vegas, passed away May 24, 2009. He was born May 31, 1960, in Hutchinson, Kan., and was a six-year resident of Nevada.

He retired from the U.S. Navy (April 19, 1978-April 30, 2002), attaining the rank of chief petty officer. Ray served his country for 16 years as electronic warfare technician and seven years as a drug/alcohol counselor. He circumnavigated the globe twice and was awarded the Armed Forces Ecpeditionary Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Corps Achievement Medal and Kuwait Liberation Medal.

Ray was a teacher for the Clark County School District for four years and at William E. Farron Elementary School for the last two years.

He was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and Extraordinary Minister and Lector at Holy Family Catholic Church.

Ray is survived by his wife, of 29 years, Michele; daughters, Cheryl Kaspari and Angela Ordonez; son, Ryan Kaspari; mother, Jeannie Kaspari; father, Rodney Peterson; sisters, Rondi Muller and Kimberly Kaspari.

Graveside service will be at 11:40 a.m. Thursday, June 4, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd., in Boulder City. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society , please specify pancreatic cancer research.
