Rebecca was the daughter of Eli Hoover & Mary Davis. She married Evan W. Price on Sept 18, 1868 in Le Grand, IA. They were the parents of 5 children in the 1900 census, 4 still living: Mary. C., Margaret H, William D, and Martha J "Mattie" (1873).

Cherokee Daily Times - Thursday , August 8th, 1974 - ..... ONE OF these was Rebecca Hoover Price, a sister of Herbert's father. She and Ivan Price were married in Marshall County, coming to Silver Township a few years later and settling in the southeast corner of Section 24.

In 1883, Rebecca Price, called Billie, had lost her husband. She welcomed her nephew to the farm the next summer to play with his cousins, William, Mary Catherine, Martha and Margaret.

Cherokee Evening Times - Wednesday , March 25th, 1925 - Rebecca Price, daughter of Eli and
Mary Davis Hoover, was born at West Milton, Miami county, Ohio, July 9, 1849, and passed away at the home of her son Wm. D. Price, Monday morning, March 23.

At the age of five years she removed with her father to West Branch, Cedar, county, Iowa. Later she moved to Le Grand, Marshall county, where she was united in marriage with Evan W. Price, Sept 18, 1868.

Four children were born to this marriage, two of whom, Mary. C. and Margaret H. have passed away.

She leaves to mourn her death her son, Wm. D. Price of Cherokee, at whose home she
passed away, one daughter, Mrs. Ed Jamison, and four grandchildren.

In the spring of 1874 she moved with her family to Silver township, Cherokee county, where she had made her home continuously for fifty-one years.

She was born of Friend parents and therefore had a birthright in the Friends meeting. In the death of Mrs. Price Cherokee county loses one of her most estimable pioneer women. Those of us who have known her forty or fifty years can best testify to the goodness of her heart. There are many people who will remember her for kindly acts and the sunshine she spread about her in doing good. Mrs. Price was an aunt of Herbert Hoover, Secretary of Commerce; and during his childhood , he had the pri (the rest of the obituary is continued on another page and is illegible)

The Cherokee Chief - Thursday , March 26th, 1925 - (this obituary starts exactly like the one above. - Mrs. Price is an aunt of our statesman, Herbert Hoover, and during his childhood he had the privilege of living in her home for a time. This kindness he has remembered to her beautifully in her last years.

Funeral services were held at Good Hope church at 2 o'clock Wednesday and the remains were laid to rest in Good Hope cemetery. The funeral was conducted by Rev. L.A. Miller, of the Baptist church, Cherokee.
