Mrs. F. E. Bowen, 68, died at her home on South Fourth street Tuesday at about 4:15pm from a heart ailment which had confined her to the hospital several months earlier in the year.
Iva Almira Sparks, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Sparks was born in Dayton, July 14, 1876 and with the exception of a few years in Pendleton in early childhood, she had spent her entire life in this community. She was married to Farmer E. Bowen October 5, 1896, and spent most of her married life on Eckler mountain. The Bowens moved to town some time before the death of Mr. Bowen August 27, 1937 and since then Mrs. Bowen had continued to make her home here often having many of her children and grandchildren with her.
Farmer and Ivy Bowen's first daughter was Freda born 6/14/1898 and died 11/29/1977.
