Eleazer was a respected leader and Deacon. He lead the Congregational devotional exercises in Pittsford starting about 1784. He was a weaver by trade and described as a man with sound judgment and ardent piety. He was the son of Benjamin Harwood and Bridget Brown Harwood. He married Elizabeth Montague on May 28 1761, Sunderland, Franklin, MA. They had ten children. (by Merideth Hmura)

The first settled Minister of Pittsford, Vt. Died May 19, 1807, age 70 & in the 21st yrs. of his Ministry.

Honor thy father and thy mother,
that thy days may be long upon the land
which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

Erected by their descendants as a tribute of respect A.D. 1871.
