He was born June 16, 1924, in Alpena Pass, AR, the son of George and Elizabeth {Turner} Reed. On January 19, 1946, he was united in marriage to Leona Wilson who preceded him in death on May 22, 1984. He married Wilma Bailey in Miami, OK, on June 2, 2000. She passed away August 18, 2006.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Betty Merriam, Vella Skelton and Mary Potts, twin brother and sister, who died in infancy and two grandsons.
Survivors include: one son, Ronnie Reed and his wife, Carolyn, of Ridgecrest, CA; two daughters, Donna M. Walker and her husband, Rodney, of Cassville, and Carol Shadden of Pleasant Hope; one brother, Charles Reed and his wife, Karen, of Hesperia, CA; two sisters, Tessie Ray and her husband, Laverne, of Jenkins, and Cherrie Duke and her husband, Bill, of Wickenburg, AZ; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren.
He served in the United States Army during WWII and served in the Chinese Combat Command. During this time he was awarded two Bronze Stars. He was honorably discharged in January 1946. After his discharge from the Army, he and Leona moved to California where he was employed as a mechanic for China Lake Naval Ordinance Test Station. He retired in the summer of 1979 and they moved to Shell Knob to make their home.
Funeral services were held Monday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Burial with military honors was at Antioch Cemetery, Cassville.
