It is with great sadness that the family of Edward Elmer Alspach announces his passing at home on Wednesday August 6, 2008 at the age of 81. Edward was born on Feb. 28, 1927 at home in Oswigsburg, PA, to Emma (Sassaman) Alspach and Elmer Alspach.
Edward served in the Navy as a Fireman First Class aboard the U.S.S. Portsmouth during World War II.
After his enlistment he was introduced to his wife, Dorothy Eva Miller, by his sister Florence and they were married and stayed happily married for 57 yrs.
Edward and Dorothy had four children who adore him, Pamela, Craig, Kevin, and Brian.
His life long career as an electrician earned him many friends because he was always helping them with various wiring projects.
A gypsy at heart, he and his family resided in various states and was even planning another move at the end of his life, but he always considered home to be where ever family resided.
He will be remembered as a loving, caring husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His love of life, his strong sense of family, and his overwhelming generosity made us who we are today.
In addition to his above mentioned wife and children, Edward is survived by seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, his brothers Robert Alspach and Philip Alspach, and sister Elaine Willard.
A memorial service will be August 15, 2008 at the Idaho State Veteran's Cemetery.
