Joseph Mason Sumpter, 49, construction worker, died at 9:30 a. m. Sunday in St. Elizabeth hospital, Lafayette, where he had been a patient four days. He had been ill two years of a heart ailment.

Born in Nancy, Ky., he moved his family here 10 years ago.

In 1928 he married Theresa Manowski and was a member of Christian church.

Surviving are the widow; three daughters, Mrs. Donald Puetz of Ambia, Mrs. Edward Roe of Oood-land, Mrs. Robert Luttrell of Oxford; four sons, George of Lincoln, IL., James, Russell and Danny, all at home; three sisters, Mrs. Roe Pittman of Cains Store, Ky., Mrs. Opher Fuleher of Somerset, Ky., Miss Hattie Sumpter of Nancy, Ky.; four brothers, Leon of Detroit, Mich., Delno and Dewey of Nancy, and Orville of Naomi, Ky.
