LENA F. "NONA" BERTA - Loved Volunteer Work

Montrose - Lena F. "Nona" Berta, age 96, of Montrose, died early
Friday morning, November 12, 2004, her residence in Montrose.

Lena Faussone, the daughter Robert and Mary (Berta) Faussone, was born on
December 14, 1907, in Montrose County. Colorado, where she spent her
childhood years, graduated from Montrose County High School In 1927,
and grew to womanhood.

On February 11, 1928, Lena entered into marriage with the love of her life,
Mike Berta, in Delta, Colorado. Lena and Mike had the joy and privilege of
sharing 41 years of marriage prior to Mike's death on May 25, 1969, in Montrose.

Lena, a retired homemaker, had traveled extensively. She served as a volunteer
at Montrose Memorial Hospital since 1965, was honored as 'Volunteer of the Year'
in 1991, received the Sunshine Award Good Morning Montrose in December of
1980 and the RSVP 30-Year Award in 2004.
She was a member of the Montrose Botanical Society, belonged to the Montrose Historical Society, the Jolly Hour Pinochle Club since 1941, was a member of the Montrose United Methodist Church, served as financial secretary for 15 years,
and was a member of the United Methodist Women for 50 years.

Lena, the specialness we shared with you can never be replaced. We want to
know we will always remember.
Surviving family members who were blessed to share in Lena's life include
a daughter, Virginia Palmer, of Montrose, CO; grandchildren; Paul and Ann of
Elfrida, AZ; Gregg and Laretha of Montrose, CO; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 great-
great-grandchildren; one brother, Henry, of Grand Junction, CO; one nephew,
Robert of Loma, CO; and three nieces: Shari of Telluride, CO and AZ; Karen
of Grand Junction, CO; and Mrs. Lillian Frascati of Montrose, CO.

Nona was preceded in death by a son in 1937, her parents, husband and a son-in-law. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Thursday. November 18. from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Crippin Funeral Home, using the front entrance on Main Street. Prior to the funeral service on Friday, family interment will be held in the Cedar Cemetery at Montrose.
A funeral service in loving remembrance of Nonas life will be officiated on Friday. November 19, at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Montrose. The service will conclude at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to: Montrose Botanical Society, In Memory of Lena.F. Berta, P.O. Box 323, Montrose, CO 81402. Arrangements are being handled under the direction and care of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory of Montrose.
