Mabel Elizabeth (Wilson) Cadle-Rinehart-Bales, 91, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 1982, at St. Catherine Hospital, Garden City, Kansas, after a long illness. She was born on August 12, 1890, in Cuba, Illinois, the daughter of Addie Alwilda (VanHouten) and John Alfred Wilson. She was the second child, and oldest daughter, with nine siblings; five sisters and four brothers.


She had been a resident of Lakin, KS, since 1925.


Mabel was married three times. Mabel first married Alva Waltemire Cadle in 1906; at age 16, ten days after her mother passed away. After the birth of their daughter, Mattie; they divorced. Mabel was married to Charles Ulysses Rinehart in 1912, at Des Moines, IA. They had a daughter, Hazel; and a son, Elman. He passed away in 1922. Mabel was then married to Walter Jackson Bales in 1925, at Bethany, MO. He passed away in 1941.


She was a member of United Methodist Church, Lakin, KS.


She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mattie Irene Walton-Stout in 1978.


Mabel is survived by her daughter, Hazel Eleanor (Rinehart) Stullken of Lakin, KS; and her son, Elman Curtis Rinehart of Overland Park, KS; four sisters, Margaret Isabel Boyer-Rapp, Checotah, OK; Ethel Susie Pasley of Clearview City, KS; Mildred Alwilda Stone, Denver, CO; and and Florence Ellen Harr of Pueblo, CO; a brother, Alfred Ethan Wilson of Independence, KS; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
