Alvin Byrd Bruce, 68, a merchant and rural mail carrier died Saturday at his home in Baxter following a long illness.
Funeral services were held Monday in the chapel of Baxter Funeral Home and burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Rev. Guy Farris officiated.
Mr. Bruce was a native of Texas, the son of Alvin Byrd & Tennie Jared Bruce.
Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Clara Judd Bruce, Baxter; son, Alvin Bruce Jr., Tewksburg, MA, daughter,
Mrs. Norene Barr, Knoxville; 4 brothers, Jim & Landon Bruce of Baxter, Hatton Bruce of CA, Hob Bruce,
MI; 3 sisters, Mrs. Eva Watts, Baxter, Mrs. Berchie Huddleston, Akron, OH, Mrs. Edna Jones, Riverside,
CA; 5 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild.
