Isaac Fickle, son of Joseph Fickle and Elizabeth Tatman Fickle, is buried in Brewer Cemetery, Marion Township, Marion County Ohio. Married (1) to Mary Tate. Children: Mariah Fickle (married Ruel Skinner) and son Stewart. Widowed, he married (2) Eliza Tipton in Marion County Ohio. Children: Mary (married William F. Harvey), Louisa (married Hezekiah Johnson) Margaret Ann, Sarah (married Joseph Drake), Cordelia (married Robert Rice) and son Eliot.

A farmer, Isaac, along with brothers George, Daniel and Edward, and nephews William and James Hamilton, came to north central Marion County in the early 1820s. Isaac's farm was located at the SE corner of SR 4 and Marion County Road 66 (then known as the Harvey Road; now known as Kenton Galion Road West). Edward and Isaac died in Marion County. Brothers Daniel and George relocated to Cass County IN. William and James Hamilton remained in Marion County.

Isaac's grave was visited by myself (his 4xgreat grandson) and witness J.A. Rarick on June 6, 2009. We were granted permission to go to the grave E. Brewer whose family owns the land. Mr. Brewer also guided us to the site on the west bank of the Rocky Fork Creek. We found Isaac's tombstone in readable condition. It rests at the base of an old oak tree, located about five to ten feet from its original location. There are two similar stones located next to Isaac's headstone. Both stones have been dressed smooth - one showing a sunburst pattern similar to the one on Isaac's grave along with deep chisel marks, however neither of those stones contain a name or dates. Isaac's stone is professionally carved in the manner of the day.

Photographs were taken during the visit.

Notes on Brewer Cemetery: Documented in the 1985 book "Tombstone Inscriptions of Marion County Ohio by Paul and Barbara Midlam. (Note: their location of the cemetery is off my .2 of a mile; cemetery is .3 of a mile from County Road 66 as measured on 6-6-2009.) His is the only known grave proven in this .2 acre cemetery which is landlocked in the middle of a privately owned parcel of land.

IMPORTANT: This grave site is located on PRIVATELY owned land. Do not attempt to visit this location unless proper permission has been obtained from the legal property owner. Accessing this cemetery without permission from the owner or their agent is trespassing under the Ohio Revised Code and carries with it prosecution, fines and possible jail time.
