Luella lived an active social life and was proud to be a member of the Katherine Pratt Horton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a past president of the Buffalo Colony, New England Women; past director of the Abigal Fillmore Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, and a delegate of that chapter to the national convention in Washington. One of the earliest communicants of the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Kenmore, she was also the church's organist for 20 years.
