Roy T. Henderson, 90, was born at Haven, Kan. April 27th, 1890, died Friday April 22nd, 1981 at the home of his nephew, William J. Miller 727 Monument, Ponca City, Ok. He served as Sheriff from 1929 to 1933 and as Undersheriff in Cowley County, Kan., for a number of years. Henderson also served a postmaster from 1943 to 1945 at Winfield, Kan., and was a farmer and oil operator until his retirement in 1950. Following retirement he moved with his wife from Winfield to Colorado Springs, Colo., where they made their home. His wife, Leona Henderson, died in 1976, at which time he moved to Ponca City, residing with the Miller family.
He served in France with the U.S. Army in World War I. A 50 year 32nd Degree Mason. Henderson was also member of the American Legion Huff Minor Post 14.
Survivors include three nephews, William J. Miller, Ponca City; Bertram Miller Jr., of Bellefontaine, Ohio, and Lawrence B. Miller of Charleston, S.C.; two nieces, E. Susan Rash of Lynchburg, Va. and Doris Thelen of Tulsa; one cousin Mrs. Kermit A. Koch, Grayland, Wash.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Donald E. Crane, pastor, officiating. Local arrangements are under the direction of Gill-Lessert Funeral Home. Burial will be in Colorado Springs, Colo. Tuesday under direction of the Evergreen Funeral Home there.
