Alfred W. Behring, 66, of 218 E. Park Lane, Kohler, died unexpectedly Sat., after being stricken with an apparent heart attack at his home.
Born in Kohler on Oct. 12, 1908, a son of the late Albert and Frances Drexler Behring, he attended Holy Name and Kohler schools.
On Aug. 1, 1934, he married Julia B. Wagner at Cleveland.
Mr. Behring was employed for 25 years at Kohler Co. and 25 years at Kohler Public Schools, where he served as a custodian. He retired Sept. 1, 1973.
He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Kohler, its Usher Society, Holy Name Society, the Kohler Co. Quarter Century Club and the Volunteer fire department.
Surviving are his widow; two sons, James A. of Iron Mountain, Mich., and William L., Oshkosh; one daughter of Sheboygan; and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers [William, Arthur] and one sister [Helen].
A concelebrated funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Tues. at St. John the Evangelist Church, Kohler, with Fr. Louis Willimek, pastor, as main celebrant, with Fr. James Wagner and Fr. Leonard Wagner, assisting. Family rites will be held at 9:30 a.m. at Kroos-Mason Funeral Home. Burial will be in Kohler Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Mon.
