JOHN SHOOSMITH JR.

John Hartly Shoosmith, 61, of Las Vegas, passed away May 25, 2009. He was born Feb. 25, 1948, in Philadelphia, and raised in Canoga Park, Calif., for 30 years before residing in Las Vegas for the past 31 years.

He was the son of the late Anne Marie and John Shoosmith Sr. John served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam during 1969-1971.

He is survived by his wife, of 19 years, Maggie; twin brother, Greg; sisters, Bonnie Privitt and the late Betty Ann Dustman; several nieces and nephews; and ever-faithful companion, his black Lab, Logan. John will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 12, at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd., in Boulder City. Donations can be made to the Las Vegas Natural History Museum.
