Obituary

1944 ~ 2004

"Nothing loved is ever lost. It returns again and again in sweet memories"
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, Ronald G. Gunther passed away February 29, 2004, surrounded by his family at his home in Bountiful, after a short, but valiant battle with liver cancer.

Ron was born in Salt Lake City, June 20, 1944, to Eric K. and Adeline Weisser Gunther. He married Louise Andrews, his high school sweetheart, on September 14, 1963 and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in August 1976. He was a High Priest in the North Canyon 3rd Ward and had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

He graduated from Olympus High School in 1962 and pursued a career in the baking industry for over 40 years. For the last 15 years he worked for Associated Foods, as a bakery merchandiser where he developed many close friendships.

Ron had a special love of the outdoors, especially spending time at his beloved cabin with his family and friends. He created a special bond with his sons on many hunting and fishing trips in Alaska. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family in the mountains, boating at Lake Powell and in his own backyard. He loved snowmobiling in the winter and four wheeling in the summer. He had a special bond with his children and grandchildren and was a great example to them in all he did.

Survived by his wife and best friend of 40 years Louise, four wonderful children, Shelly (Rick) Balderston, Cary (Lisa) Gunther, Wendy (Eric) Johnson, Andy (Kathy) Gunther and eleven grandchildren, Brandi, Josh, Taegan, Bailey, Brek, Braxton, Alex, BreeAnn, Gracie, Adam and Chaylor, his father Eric K., brother Eric B. and sisters Patty Olson and Rose Hawker. Preceded in death by his mother, Adeline Weisser Gunther.

The family wishes to express great gratitude to Associated Foods and countless friends and family for their support during his illness.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 4, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the North Canyon 3rd Ward, 2505 So. Davis Blvd. (300 E) Bountiful, Utah. Friends may call Wednesday, March 3rd from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. and 9:45 -10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Interment Lakeview Memorial Park.
