Wilford Bishop, 91, lived on W'port farm 58 years

Wilford "Bud" Bishop, 91, of Hartsville died at 12:25 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2007, at his residence. Funeral service was held Wednesday at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastors Tammy and Bill Leak officiating. Burial was at Findley Cemetery.

Mr. Bishop lived on a farm south of Westport for 58 years and moved to Hartsville four months ago. He retired from Cummins Inc. in 1974 after 25 years of service. He spent his retirement years farming. He was a member of Letts United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent for several years.

Born December 8, 1915, in Westport he was the son of Charles and Gayle Bennett Bishop. He married Lillian K. Pope June 24, 1939, in Greenfield. She survives.

He is also survived by a daughter, Sandra Spangler of Hartsville; two sons, Tom Bishop of Glendale, Ariz., and Terry Bishop of North Vernon; a sister, Lenora Bennington of Connersville; a brother, Charles "Chuck" Bishop of Payson, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several half-brothers and half-sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Bishop; and two sisters, Mary Ewing and Martha Sallee.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Bartholomew County.
