Married to Annie Phyllis Flamm: their children: Phyllis Mae (Pat) Bahen Martin, Paul Gary Bahen, Gordon Bahen, Dennis Bahen, and Elizabeth Ann (Lisa) Bahen Ellis.

Paul grew up in Paradise, Utah and graduated from Utah State Agricultural College in 1934. He worked teaching high school agriculture in Wyoming and as an Agricultural Agent with the Dept. of the Interior on the Crow Indian Reservation in Montana prior to WWII. In 1940, he was called to active status in the Army. He served in Europe for much of WWII and finished the war as a Lieutenant Colonel. He stayed in the Army Reserve for 20 years, but went back to teaching school in Escondido, CA in order for his family to be able to live in one place after having to move a lot.

After retiring in 1971, he and his wife Phyllis bought the house in which he grew up in Paradise, UT and remodeled it. They lived there until the mid-80's when they sold it and moved to St. George, UT. They still returned to Paradise in the summers. In 1997 he and Phyllis moved to Escondido, CA to live with their daughter Lisa and her family, where he passed away in 2002.
