Alice Jeanette Demar was the daughter of James William Theodore Demar and his wife, Alice Jeanette Hughes Demar. Her father died in July of 1891 when she was an infant.
Her mother re-married before 1900 and the family moved to New Jersey. After 1900, Alice returned to D.C. and resided with her maternal aunt, Mary Hughes Rafter until she married in 1911. Alice and Alley Rorex had no children.
Alice's maternal grandmother, Adele Jeanette Johnson Hughes was a U.S. Army Nurse in the Civil War and is also buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
