Douglas Edward Dooley, 76, of Vinton, Va. passed away Monday, June 8, 2009. He was born December 27, 1932, the son of the late Howard Nicholas Dooley Sr. and Lula Esther Neighbors Dooley. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War. Surviving are his daughter, Tammy Bessett, of Huddleston; stepdaughter, Sue Anderson and husband, Don; granddaughter, Valerie Bessett and her fiance, Preston Hawley; granddaughter, Jillian Bessett; great-granddaughter, Layla Hawley; great-grandson, Chance Hawley; stepgreatgranddaughter, McKenzie Poniatowski; three sisters, Ann Booth and husband, J.D., of Vinton, Jerry Berrigam of Oklahoma, and Nora Moores of Kentucky; two brothers, Howard Dooley and wife, Lou, of Roanoke, and Eugene Dooley and wife, Sandra, of Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Lotz Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Jim Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 12, 2009, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements by Lotz Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel.
