The oldest child of Andrew John "Andy" Robeen and Margaret "Maggie" Arnold, "Bob" married Freda Rose Meseke on 15 Oct 1940 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Brussels, Calhoun County, Illinois. He was a farmer, and they were the parents of 1 child.

Bob eventually took over the Meseke family farm after his father-in-law retired. Bob farmed in Calhoun County for many years before taking a job with the Illinois Department of Transportation as a bridge attendant at the Joe Page Bridge in Hardin, Illinois.

Bob and Freda were members of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Brussels where he served as an elder. He belonged to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 525 and the Calhoun County Farm Bureau.

After Bob retired, Freda taught him how to embroider. She often told how challenging it had been to show him how to do the intricate sewing involved since he was left-handed. She solved the problem by facing him as she gave him instructions.

The 2 of them worked together to produce hundreds of finely stitched pillowcases and other items that were much in demand by those who appreciated the beauty of hand-made keepsakes. Bob became highly skilled with his embroidery work, and Freda would finish each pair of pillowcases with her fancy crochet work.

At the time of his death at Missouri Baptist Hospital, Bob was 92 years, 5 months and 27 days old.

Bob was survived by his wife, Freda; 1 son and daughter-in-law; 1 granddaughter and 2 grandsons; 3 great-granddaughters and 2 great-grandsons; 2 sisters, Grace and Virginia; and 3 brothers, Louis, Curtis and Vincent.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Cecelia and an infant sister; and 2 brothers, Harold and Mark.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. on 16 Apr 2004 at Hanks-Gubser Funeral Home in Brussels. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. the following morning at St. Matthew Lutheran Church.

The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church or to a charity of one's choice.
