Hillsboro Banner, Hillsboro, ND, Nov 9, 1966, Page 6, Col. 3-4 - "Herbert W. Engel, Lifetime Resident of Hillsboro, Dies -- Funeral services were held Monday in the Congregational Church for Herbert W. Engel, 70, life-long resident of Hillsboro, who died at his home November 3, 1966.
"Herbert William Engel was born February 28, 1896 in Hillsboro Township, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Engel. He was baptized and confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church and attended the local schools.
"November 13, 1925 he was married to Ruby Talbott at Moorhead.
"He had farmed the home farm east of Hillsboro and was an auctioneer for this area. He had retired from farming several years ago and had been residing in Hillsboro.
"A member of the Congregational Church and the Masonic Lodge, he had also served on the board of directors of the Equity Elevator and for many years was a member of the Hillsboro Township Board.
"He is surivived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Earl (Georgine) Lutz, Karlstad, Minn.; three grandsons, a sister, Mrs. Conrad (Edna) Leraas, Hillsboro; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
"He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
"Pallbearers at the services were Ramon Meyer, Roy Jonston Jr., Ronald Stuart, Robert and Donald Riemer, Lary, Ralph and Eugene Engel.
"Burial was in Riverside Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Halverson-Wildemann Funeral Home."
