2787478 Private Raymond Alfred "Blue" McGuire, aged 22 from Burwood, NSW was a warehouseman and a member of the Ingleburn Rifle Club prior to being called up for National Service on 12 July 1967. He was posted to 4RAR in South Vietnam from 2RAR on 2nd June 1968.
During Operation GOODWOOD in Bien Hoa Province on 16th February 1969, B Company, supported by tanks, was attacking an enemy bunker system when a command detonated mine exploded Blue succumbed to multiple penetrating wounds before he could be evacuated. Pte Vic Petersen was also killed in action as a result of the same blast and three others including the Company Sergeant Major were wounded in the initial bursts of enemy fire.
