James R. Leckie went home to be with the Lord on June 6, 2009 after a courageous battle, but he won the victory.

James (Jim) was born on December 15, 1951 in Washington, D.C. Jim attended elementary school in Amarillo, TX and later grew up in Okmulgee, OK, where he graduated from high school in 1970. He also attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in music performance.

Jim was a career military man serving in the Army Reserves from 1971-1977, U.S. Air Force from 1977-1978, Air National Guard from 1979-1996 and the Army National Guard 1996-present.

Jim married Rhonda Reier on February 12, 1983, and to this marriage was born their two sons, Jonathan Raymond Leckie and Joseph Samuel Leckie.

Jim worked for Tinker Air Force Base since 1985 as an aircraft mechanic. Jim had many joys in life. He loved working as an adult leader in the Boy Scouts of America, where he had served as troop committee chairman. One of Jim's great joys was watching his son grow in leadership in scouting. He was proud to see one of his sons receive his Eagle. He also enjoyed being a member of the 145th Army National Guard Band, where he played his tuba. He was a great leader in the Army National Guard Band, and his leadership will be truly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Rhonda; sons, Jonathan and Joseph; father, Robert Leckie; brother, Joel Leckie; mother-in-law, Helen Reier; and nieces and nephews: Sharon, TJ, Mark, Bethany and Graham.

Services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, June 11, 2009, at Lighthouse Lutheran Church in Edmond, OK, with interment to follow at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, OK on Friday, June 12, 2009, at 11:00 AM.
