Funeral services for Ms. Sharon Darlene Ivie Smith will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at the Pentecostals of Alexandria with the Reverends Anthony Mangun and Leland Briggs officiating. Burial will be in Cleveland Cemetery, Lena with Reverend Terry Shock and Father August Thompson officiating.
Ms. Smith, 53, of Pineville, died Sunday, February 24, 2008 at her residence.
Ms. Smith was an executive secretary at St. Mary's Residential Training Facility. She was the recipient of the Non-Direct Care Staff Employee-of-the-Year award in 2007. She was a member of the Singing Ivies and the Pentecostals of Alexandria.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Randy Joe Ivie.
Survivors include two daughters, Lacey Simmering and husband, Ben, and Kensie Smith; parents, Billy Ray Ivie and Gracie Evans and husband, Charles; brother Danny Ray Ivie and wife, Karen; and sisters, Cindy Sanders and husband David, and Kim Chelette and husband, Danny; two nieces, three nephews, 1 great niece, family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Rev. Robert Daniel, Geoffery Daniel, Jeremy Sanders, Marshall Adams, Josh Sanders, R. J. Bolton, Dexter Edwards, and Calvin Ivie. Honorary pallbearers will be David Sanders, Benny Gunter, Danny Ivie, Danny Chelette, and Jimmy Miller.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until time of service at the church at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Residential Training Facility, 6715 Hwy. 1 North, Alexandria, LA 71301
