Hubert Glenn Carroll was born in rural Paulding County, Georgia, and lived his life here. He farmed, worked in textile mills (including some mills in Newnan and Shannon, Georgia) and owned a store. He married Annie Mae Campbell on December 23, 1915, in Coweta County, Georgia. She was a dark-eyed, dark haired beauty when she was young.

Their nine children had either his Irish coloring with the red hair or her dark coloring. Seven of the children lived to be adults, but two died as small children. They moved to Rome in the late 1940s and opened a grocery store with their home in the back. This was the center of our family gatherings and memories.
