Oldest surviving son of Ephriam Monnett and his first wife Ellen C. Barton. He was married to Carrie Kraner of Marion. The couple had a daughter, Edna. He was a farmer in Crawford County and a merchant, owning the general store at Monnett, Ohio.

Death was attributed to measles, with Addison's disease secondary.

OBIT
Mr. William Abraham Monnette, thirty-nine years old, and well known in Marion and Crawford counties, died of Addison's disease and complications this morning at 5:30 o'clock, at the home of his mother-in-law, Mrs.J.E. Kraner, No 315 East Church Street. Saturday evening he developed an attack of the measles and this is believed to have hastened the end.
Mr. Monnette was born on a farm six and a half miles south of Bucyrus. He was educated in the county and Bucyrus city schools and came to Marion at the age of twenty-one years. April 19, 1893, he was married to Miss Carrie Kraner. After his marriage, Mr. Monnette lived here about three years, when he moved to a large farm given him by his father, E.B Monnette, of Bucyrus, the farm being located eleven miles north of Marion, just across the line in Crawford county. He lived there eleven years; during which time he became identified with McCord & Bercoe, well-known grain merchants of Columbus. Three years ago he bought a general farm at Monnette and left the farm.
Last April, in Toledo, Mr. Monnette suffered the first attack of the peculiar malady known as Addison's disease. He was in a private hospital five weeks. In December he suffered a second attack, and after his recovery he came to Marion a week ago last Saturday, He said that he was feeling good again and was making preparations to move the family back to the farm. He was uptown a week ago Saturday night. Monday night he took ill and took to his bed. He grew rapidly worse and no hopes for his ultimate recovery were entertained.
Will Monnette, as he was popularly known, was one of those good whole-souled fellows, who was well liked by all who knew him, and his death will be learned with much regret by those here and in Crawford county, who knew him.
He is survived by his widow; one daughter, Edna, aged six years; one sister, Mrs. James Gregory of Cardington; his father, E,B, Monnette of Bucyrus; a stepmother and a stepsister*.
Funeral services will be held at the Kraner home on East Church street Wednesday and interment will be made in Marion Cemetery.
