Nancy Katherine "Kate" Howard Henderson was the daughter of Samuel Benton Howard and Delilah Miller. She was born August 26, 1869 in Iowa. She had at least nine children, including Ora, Charles, Albert, Calvin, Cora, Myrtle, Archie, Earl and Ray. She was diabetic. Her grandson, Donald, wrote in his memoirs "My Grandma Howard. She used to bake the best Parker rolls you ever smelled. By the time I came along, she had lost her hearing." At the time of her death, her residence was on Genesee Street in the Kaw Township of Kansas City, Mo.
