Yesterday afternoon "Squire Rowan" joined four happy mortals from Drury township, the double
wedding taking place at the hour of 3:30 in his wedding palor. The contracting parties were Mr. John Henry Hayes and Miss Elizabeth Johnson, and Mr. Martin W. Cunningham and Miss Mattie Hayes
John and Mattie were brother and sister.

John H. Hayes 89, of 2001 First Avenue died at 7:45 p. m. Sunday at the Hershey Convalescent
home after an extended illness.

Mr. Hayes was born Oct. 20, 1872, at Rock Island County, IL, the son of Daniel and Susan Acey.
He had been a resident of Muscatine for 35 years. Mr. Hayes was married to the former Mary Ellen Johnson.

Surviving are two sons, Carl W. Hayes of Selma Iowa, and Samuel Hayes of Muscatine; two
daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Chapman and Mrs. Virgil Oakes both of Muscatine; two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Daughtery and Mrs. Mattie Hayes both of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife May 24, 1961; one daughter in infancy, two sisters and 3 brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p. m. Wednesday at the George M. Wittich funeral home, with Rev. Emmett Barnes in charge. Interment will be at Greenwood cemetery.

Funeral services for J. H. Hayes were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the George M. Wittich Funeral Home by the Rev. Emmett Barnes.

Mrs. George Holliday was organist and Mr. and Mrs. James Cook sang.

Flower attendants were Mrs. Cyril Reynolds, Mrs. Ray Pace and Mrs. Howard Mockmore.

Burial was at Greenwood cemetery. Pallbearers were Paul Wright, Sherman Burns, Glen Anderson, Francis Fowlie, Ray Pace and Ralph Burns.

Mr. Hayes died May 20 at Hershey Convalescent Hospital.
