Civil War Union veteran; 19th Indiana Infantry, Company C. He enlisted as a Private and was mustered into service on July 29, 1861. He was discharged from the 19th Indiana regiment early in the war. He enlisted in the 147th Indiana Infantry as a 1st Sergeant in Company A on February 8, 1865. He mustered out as a 2nd Lieutenant on July 10th, 1865. He also served in Company B of the 131st Ohio National Guard Infantry. He received a pension after the war. He married Demaris Elizabeth Moore on January 24, 1860 in Randolph County. Their son Oscar was born in 1870.
