Mrs. Betsy Anne Singleton, 79 years of age, widow of George Alex Singleton of Waynesburg, passed away Saturday morning at the Somerset General Hospital after an illness of several weeks.

Her husband was one of Lincoln County's most prominent citizens, preceding her to the grave thirty years. She made her home with her son, Mr. Arnold Singleton of Waynesburg.

Mrs. Singleton was one of the best known citizens in Lincoln County. She was a life-long member of the Double Springs Baptist Church and a woman greatly beloved by all who knew her. Her beautiful Christian character and many acts of kindness to neighbors and friends had endeared her to the entire community in which she had lived so long.

Funeral services were held at the Double Springs Church Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. E.J. Weller, and burial followed in the cemetery there.

She is survived by ten children, five daughters, Mrs. D.S.Gooch of Somerset, Mrs. D.J. DeLa Croix of Hamilton, Ohio, Mrs. W.C. Brown of Birmingham, Mrs. N.A. Johnson of Detroit, and Mrs. W.R. Reynolds of Waynesburg; five sons, V. Singleton, Epson Singleton, and Leemon Singleton of Rushville, Indiana, Yantis Singleton of Houghton, Kansas, Arnold Singleton of Waynesburg; one sister, Mrs. Will Trimble of Kings Mountain; and one brother, M.J. Murphy of Phoenix, Arizona.
