NILES - C. Osman "Ossie" Ziegler, 73, of Maple Lane, died suddenly of natural causes at 5:50 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2009, at his cottage in Hillman, MI. Mr. Ziegler was born on January 5, 1936, in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, to Osman F. and Mary Esther (Newbanks) Ziegler. He graduated from Niles High School and in 1966 graduated from Western Michigan University. He retired as a credit manager from Clark Equipment Company and also from Old Kent Bank. Mr. Ziegler was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving as a radio corpsman, and was a member of American Legion Post #51 in Buchanan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, and working in the garden. He also belonged to a "Rod" Club, building hot rods for racing. On February 22, 1963, in St. John's, Michigan, he married Mitzi Brock, who survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Marna (Igor) Tarducci of Novi, MI; grandchildren, Nadia and Enzo Tarducci; sister, Patricia Christner, Niles; two nephews, Todd and Damon; and a very best friend, Duane (Barbara) Durflinger. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 17th, in the Halbritter Funeral Home. A brief service will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, Niles.
