SALLY STABLER
FOLEY - Sally Stabler, 74, died at her Foley home Saturday. Visitation and services will be held Friday. Mrs. Stabler was the mother of former University of Alabama and NFL quarterback Ken Stabler of Orange Beach. Mrs. Stabler, a native of Tallassee, had worked for many years as a nurse's aide for several local doctors.
"She was just a wonderful, very simple lady," recalled Dr. Marvin H. Taylor of Foley of the woman he said everyone called "Miss Sally." Mrs. Stabler had worked for Taylor for about 20 years, he said. In addition to her son, survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Bishop of Foley; two sisters, Annie Langley and Effie Lee White, both of Foley; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation on Friday will be at Pine Rest Funeral Home in Foley from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. services.
The family suggests that memorials be made to Ronald McDonald House Charities, 316 Bel Air Boulevard, Suite 304, Mobile AL 36606.
