Marie Ellen Dagenhart Dyson
Taylorsville, N.C. - Marie Ellen Dagenhart Dyson, 79, of Taylorsville, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory.
Born May 14, 1930, to the late Ralph William and Alma Delia Bowman Dagenhart in Alexander County, she was an active member of Mount Herman Baptist Church, where she had been a Sunday school teacher and choir member. She participated in the Nutritional Program at Friendship Lutheran Church. One of her passions was Relay For Life. She had been employed at Carolina Glove and Taylorsville Upholstery in the past.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Horace Dyson.
Mrs. Dyson is survived by one son, Dewayne Dyson and wife, Kay; and one daughter, Jill Jarrett and husband, Dean, all of Taylorsville; and five grandchildren, Holly Dyson Wongue and Philip, Carrie Dyson, Shane Jarrett and Donnette, Adrian Jarrett and Amber, all of Taylorsville, and Tammy Hoyle Fox and Delvin of Vale. She has eight great-grandchildren. She also is survived by one brother, Harold Dagenhart and wife, Shirley, of Taylorsville, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held tonight, Monday evening, June 15, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Service.
The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at 4 p.m. at Mount Herman Baptist Church, with the Rev. Paul Schronce officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
